Grit Blasting is a surface preparation process used to clean, roughen, or finish a surface by forcibly propelling abrasive particles (grit) at high speed using compressed air or centrifugal force. It is widely used to remove rust, scale, paint, grease, and other contaminants from metal and other hard surfaces, while also creating an ideal surface profile for coating or painting.
The process improves surface adhesion, enhances durability of coatings, and restores material strength without altering the base material’s shape. Depending on the application, different abrasive media such as steel grit, steel shot, aluminum oxide, or garnet are used to achieve the desired finish.
